Where do these emojis work?
Emojis are part of the Unicode standard, so they work nearly everywhere you can type: Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, X (Twitter), Snapchat, WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord, iMessage and SMS, Gmail and Outlook, Slack, plus Google Docs and Microsoft Word. The exact picture may look slightly different from device to device (Apple, Google and Samsung each draw emojis in their own style), but the meaning stays the same.
Why is an emoji showing as a box or โ?โ
Newer emojis only appear on devices with up-to-date fonts. If you see a blank box (called โtofuโ) or a question mark, the emoji was still copied correctly โ it simply is not supported by that older device or app yet. Updating the operating system usually fixes it.
