Download GIFs From a URL

Paste a direct GIF link or a publicly accessible webpage URL. The tool will locate valid GIF files and prepare them for download.

Only download GIFs you own or have permission to use. This tool accesses publicly available files and does not bypass login, paywall, CAPTCHA, or website security restrictions.

How it works

  1. Paste a direct GIF link or a public webpage URL.
  2. The WordPress server safely fetches and inspects the URL.
  3. Valid GIF files are verified by their magic bytes, not just the extension.
  4. Choose a GIF and download it through a short-lived secure link.

Supported URL types

  • Direct .gif file URLs, including URLs with query strings.
  • GIF URLs served from CDNs or without a .gif extension.
  • URLs that redirect to a GIF.
  • Public webpages, blog posts, and forum pages where GIFs appear in the HTML.

Limitations

This tool only accesses publicly available files. It does not bypass and cannot access content behind logins, paywalls, CAPTCHA, Cloudflare challenges, anti-bot protection, private accounts, or expiring authenticated links. Some platforms deliver animations as MP4, WebM, or animated WebP rather than GIF; those are detected but not converted.

Safety & privacy

  • URL processing happens on the server with strict protections against accessing private networks.
  • Downloaded files are streamed through the server and not stored permanently.
  • Rate limits use a privacy-conscious hashed identifier; raw IP addresses are not stored.
  • Download links are short-lived and expire automatically.

Frequently asked questions

Does this work on every website?

No. It works with publicly accessible URLs when the remote server permits access. It does not bypass authentication, paywalls, or security controls.

Why did my URL fail?

The remote site may block automated requests, require a login, or present an anti-bot page. The tool will show a clear message explaining what happened.

The animation downloaded as a video — why?

Many “GIFs” on modern platforms are actually MP4 or WebP files. This tool only offers genuine GIF files and will tell you when a file is a different format.
