Typingo is a free touch-typing course for people who never learned to type properly. In about fifteen minutes a day, over thirty days, it takes you from looking at the keys to typing with all ten fingers, without looking, at a comfortable and accurate pace.
Why we built it
Most adults type with two or four fingers and their eyes on the keyboard. It works, but it is tiring, it is slower than it feels, and it gets in the way at school, at work and in job tests. Many people would like to learn properly, then open a typing site and meet a wall of speed races, flashing scores and adverts right next to the text. That puts beginners off before they start.
We made Typingo for them: a calm place that teaches one or two keys at a time, puts accuracy before speed, explains every step in plain language and never makes you feel slow. Speed comes on its own once the right habits are in place.
How the course works
The course is thirty short daily sessions. Each day adds a small, carefully ordered set of keys or skills, and a day opens once you reach the previous day’s accuracy target.
- Week 1: the home row, then the first reaches up to the top row (E, I, R, U, T, Y), ending with a review and a checkpoint.
- Week 2: the rest of the top row and the whole bottom row, until you can type every letter without looking.
- Week 3: capitals with the opposite-hand Shift rule, everyday punctuation, the most common English words and letter pairs, full sentences and a first adaptive session built around your weakest keys.
- Week 4 and beyond: numbers, rhythm and speed bursts, paragraphs, real-life text such as emails and forms, stamina passages and a graduation test.
Every session starts with a warm-up, introduces its keys slowly, practises them in short lines and real words, and ends with a short check. Pass the graduation test (40 words per minute or more at high accuracy) and you receive a certificate of completion.
What makes it different
- Accuracy first. For the first two weeks the cursor waits for the right key, so wrong movements are never practised. Speed targets are guides, not gates.
- Only keys you know. Practice text uses only the keys you have learned so far. We check this automatically for every day of the course.
- A friendly coach for every finger. Each finger has a colour and a character, and the on-screen keyboard lights up the next key in its finger’s colour.
- Honest numbers. Speed is net words per minute: only correct characters count, five characters to a word. Accuracy is the share of key presses that were right.
- Private by default. No sign-up is needed. Your progress is kept in your own browser unless you choose to create an account.
- Light and fast. Nothing to install. The fonts, scripts and texts are served from this site, without third-party libraries or trackers.
Who it is for
Students who want to write assignments faster, job seekers preparing for data entry and clerical typing tests, office workers tired of looking down, older learners who never had a typing class, and parents learning alongside their children. If you can use a computer keyboard, you can take the course.
Who is behind it
Typingo is run by Niche Bloggers LLC. It started in 2026. The lessons, practice texts and finger characters are written and designed by our own team; read how we create our lessons to see how lessons are made and checked.
How we keep it free
The course is free to use. To pay for hosting and development the site may show a small number of clearly labelled adverts. Adverts are never placed in or next to the typing area, and advertisers have no say in what we teach. Our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy explain how advertising works here.
