Siri Suggestions and Search

Each app can be allowed or blocked from appearing in search, from suggesting content, and from learning how you use it.

What it does

Show App in Search controls whether the app itself is findable. Show Content in Search controls whether its content is indexed. Learn from this App decides whether your usage informs suggestions elsewhere.

What changes

When it is on

The app and its content appear in search and suggestions.

When it is off

The app is hidden from search and stops informing suggestions.

Good reasons to turn it on

  • Finding content inside apps by searching is genuinely fast.

Good reasons to turn it off

  • A banking or health app need not surface content in search.
  • Fewer suggestions means fewer surprises when someone else holds the phone.

  1. iOS 18 and later

    Settings > Apple Intelligence & Siri > App name

  2. iOS 13 to iOS 17

    Settings > Siri & Search > App name

Questions people actually ask

How do I hide an app from search?
Open its entry under Siri and Search and turn off Show App in Search and Show Content in Search.

If it is not working

  • Settings are per app, under Siri and Search or Apple Intelligence and Siri depending on release.
  • Turning off Show Content in Search does not remove the app itself from search results.
