Camera and media capture

A Live Photo captures a second and a half of video either side of the shutter, which lets you choose a better frame later or turn it into a short loop.

Settings > Apps > Camera > Preserve Settings > Live Photo

High Efficiency saves photos as HEIF and video as HEVC, which halves the file size, while Most Compatible uses JPEG and H.264 for wider support.

Camera location access decides whether each photo carries the coordinates of where it was taken.

Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > Camera

With this on, a selfie is saved exactly as it appeared on screen, rather than flipped horizontally.

Preserve Settings decides whether the Camera reopens in the mode, filter and Live Photo state you last used, or resets to its defaults.
