In short: the typing course needs no cookies at all. Your progress is kept in your browser’s local storage. Cookies are only set when you log in, leave a comment, or when adverts are shown.
This Cookie Policy explains how Typingo uses cookies and similar technologies on typingo.net. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
What cookies and local storage are
Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser and that are sent back to it on later visits. Local storage is a similar space in your browser where a website can keep information on your device. Unlike cookies, local storage is not sent to the website automatically.
Strictly necessary
These are needed for features you ask for, so they do not require consent.
- Local storage “typingo”: your lesson progress, results, key statistics, practice calendar and settings. Kept until you reset your progress or clear site data.
- Local storage “typingo-replay”: a recording of your last typing test for the replay on My Progress. Replaced by each new test.
- wordpress_test_cookie: checks that your browser accepts cookies before you log in. Session.
- wordpress_logged_in_* and wordpress_sec_*: keep you logged in to your account. Session, or 14 days if you tick “Remember me”.
- wp-settings-*: remembers display settings for logged-in site editors only. One year.
Preferences
- comment_author_*: if you choose “Save my name and email” when commenting, remembers them for your next comment. One year.
Advertising
When adverts are shown, Google and its partners may set cookies or use similar identifiers to show adverts, limit how often you see the same one, measure their performance, prevent fraud and, if you allow it, personalise them based on your visits to this and other sites. Examples of Google advertising cookies are __gads, __gpi and IDE; their names and lifetimes (usually up to 13 months) are set by Google and can change.
Where the law requires consent (for example in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland), these cookies are only used after you agree in the consent message. Without consent, Google may still show limited, non-personalised adverts that use cookies only where strictly necessary to prevent fraud and abuse, as its policies allow.

Analytics
We do not use analytics cookies. If we add a statistics service in future, we will list its cookies here and ask for consent where required.
What we do not use
No social media tracking pixels, no fingerprinting and no third-party fonts or scripts from content delivery networks. The site’s fonts and scripts are served from this website itself.
How to control cookies
- Consent choices: where a consent message is shown, you can change your choice at any time from the privacy settings link it provides.
- Browser settings: every browser lets you see, block and delete cookies and site data. Look for “Cookies and site data” or “Privacy” in your browser’s settings. Blocking all cookies means you cannot log in; clearing site data deletes progress kept without an account.
- Personalised adverts: Google Ads Settings, aboutads.info and youronlinechoices.eu.
- Global Privacy Control: where the law recognises it, we treat this browser signal as a request to opt out of personalised advertising.
