Compression level

Fewer colors means a smaller file but less detail.

Higher values shrink the file more but can add speckles.

Scale the animation down by percentage. Smaller pixels means a smaller file.

Leave blank to keep the original size. Overrides the resize percentage.

Keeps the animation from stretching when you set a custom size.

Blends colors to look smoother. Can slightly increase the file size.

No signup - No watermark - Animated output - Uploaded GIFs are processed temporarily and deleted automatically. They are never added to a public gallery.

How GIF compression works

A GIF can be made smaller in several ways, and this tool combines the ones that keep the animation looking good:

  • Removing unnecessary frame data that repeats between frames.
  • Reducing the color palette to fewer colors.
  • Optimizing the differences between frames.
  • Reducing the dimensions when you choose to resize.
  • Applying stronger optimization on the Maximum preset.

GIF compression is not lossless: reducing colors and optimizing frames can change how the animation looks. Light keeps the most detail, and Maximum trades detail for the smallest size.

Which setting should I choose?

  • Light - for illustrations, text, and brand graphics where detail matters.
  • Balanced - for most reaction GIFs and general sharing.
  • Maximum - when meeting a strict upload limit matters more than perfect detail.

Frequently asked questions

No. The output stays an animated GIF. If the result is not a valid animation, the tool stops and shows an error instead of giving you a broken file.

GIFs with many frames, large dimensions, or lots of detail stay big even after optimizing. Try the Balanced or Maximum preset, or reduce the dimensions in Advanced settings.

Use Light for graphics and text, Balanced for most reaction GIFs and sharing, and Maximum when meeting a strict upload limit matters more than perfect detail.

Some reduction is possible because GIF compression lowers the number of colors and optimizes frames. Light keeps the most detail; Maximum trades detail for the smallest size.

No. Files are processed in a temporary location, are never added to a public gallery, and are deleted automatically. Download links are short-lived.

If a GIF is already well optimized, re-encoding can add a little size. When that happens the tool tells you and suggests a stronger preset.

Not in this version. Exact target sizes cannot be guaranteed across formats, so the tool uses clear quality presets instead of promising an exact number.

You can upload GIFs up to 30.0 MB. This depends on the server configuration and can be adjusted by the site administrator.
