Difficulty
- Easy
- The first letter stays where it is, which gives younger students a foothold.
- Medium
- Every letter moves, but the scramble avoids leaving long runs of the original spelling intact.
- Hard
- Letters are pushed as far from their original positions as the word allows.
Short words such as "an" or repeated-letter words such as "eel" cannot always be scrambled into something different. Those are flagged rather than printed unchanged.
Layout
Choose one, two or three columns depending on how many words you have and how much writing room students need. Answer lines can be turned off if the class is answering on a separate sheet.
