Choosing how much to hide
Hiding one letter in three is a gentle prompt. Hiding half the letters is a real test. Keeping the first letter visible helps early writers start the word, and hiding only vowels is a focused exercise in its own right.
Handwriting lines
Add plain lines, or three-part guide lines with a dashed midline for classes still learning letter formation. Line height follows the font size so the boxes stay in proportion.
Questions people ask
Is the same letter hidden on every copy?
The pattern comes from the puzzle code, so the same code gives the same sheet. Shuffle it for a different pattern, or generate several copies so each student gets different gaps.
Can I use it for a pre-test and a post-test?
Save the word list, then generate one sheet with few letters hidden and another with many from the same list.
