Analytics and Improvements
Most people call this sending usage and crash data to Apple.
This decides whether diagnostic and usage data from your iPhone is shared with Apple, and whether it is passed on to app developers.
This setting is present on your iPhone.
- We have this path on file but have not yet confirmed it against an official source.
Where to find it - iOS 16 and later
- Settings
- Privacy & Security
- Analytics & Improvements
What it does
Share iPhone Analytics covers crash reports and usage statistics. Share with App Developers passes a subset on to the developers of the apps you use. Both can be switched off independently.
What changes
When it is on
Diagnostic reports are sent automatically.
When it is off
Nothing is sent. You can still view the reports yourself under Analytics Data.
Should you turn it on?
Good reasons to turn it on
- Crash reports genuinely help fix bugs.
- Data is aggregated rather than tied to your identity.
Good reasons to turn it off
- Less leaves the device.
- It changes nothing about how your iPhone works.

Questions people actually ask
- Should I share iPhone analytics?
- It is a genuine privacy trade with a real benefit to bug fixing. Turning it off costs you nothing personally.
If it is not working
- Analytics Data on the same screen shows exactly what would be sent.
- Improve Siri and Dictation is a separate switch covering audio recordings.
