Text Size

Most people call this making text bigger or smaller.

One slider changes text size across the system and every app that uses Dynamic Type, and Accessibility offers larger sizes still.

Available

This setting is present on your iPhone.

  • We have this path on file but have not yet confirmed it against an official source.

Where to find it - iOS 15 and later

  1. Settings
  2. Accessibility
  3. Display & Text Size
  4. Larger Text

Use this route for sizes beyond the standard slider.

What it does

The Display and Brightness version covers the normal range. The Accessibility version adds much larger sizes and can be applied to individual apps instead of everywhere.

What changes

When it is on

Text grows throughout the system. Layouts reflow, and some screens fit less at once.

When it is off

Text returns to the standard size.

Should you turn it on?

Good reasons to turn it on

  • Reading without glasses becomes possible again.
  • Bold Text alongside it makes a large further difference.

Good reasons to turn it off

  • Very large text means more scrolling and fewer items per screen.
  • A few apps handle large sizes badly and clip their own labels.
