Notifications and Focus
Sleep Focus
Most people call this the quiet mode that follows your sleep schedule.
Sleep Focus silences notifications during your sleep schedule and simplifies the Lock Screen so a glance at night shows only the time.
This setting is present on your iPhone.
- We have this path on file but have not yet confirmed it against an official source.
Where to find it - iOS 15 and later
- Settings
- Focus
- Sleep
What it does
It ties into the sleep schedule set in the Health app. During the wind down period and through the night it dims the Lock Screen, hides notifications and turns off the Always-On display.
What changes
When it is on
Notifications are held, the screen dims, and the Lock Screen simplifies.
When it is off
Nights behave like the rest of the day.
Should you turn it on?
Good reasons to turn it on
- No lit screen or buzzing overnight.
- Alarms still work normally.
- Allowed contacts can still get through in an emergency.
Good reasons to turn it off
- You are on call and need everything.
- Wind Down starting early catches you before you are ready.

Questions people actually ask
- Will my alarm still go off in Sleep Focus?
- Yes. Alarms are never silenced by a Focus.
- Why is my screen dark and simple at night?
- Sleep Focus is active and has simplified the Lock Screen.
If it is not working
- Alarms always sound, regardless of Sleep Focus.
- The schedule comes from Health, so change it there or in the Focus settings.
- Allow repeated calls so a genuine emergency can reach you.
