Device-specific hardware settings

The Action button replaces the Ring and Silent switch and can be set to run the torch, the camera, a Focus, a shortcut or an accessibility feature.

Camera Control opens the camera with a press, takes a photo with a second press, and adjusts settings when you slide a finger along it.

The Dynamic Island turns the camera cutout into a live status area that expands to show calls, timers, directions and Live Activities.

On the iPhone Duo the fingerprint sensor is built into the side button rather than a Home button, so you rest your finger on the button you already press.

ProMotion lets the display change its refresh rate up to 120Hz for smoother scrolling, and down to a very low rate to save power.

The iPhone Duo has an outer display for quick use while folded and a larger inner display when opened, and settings control what carries across when you unfold.

On the iPhone Duo a compatible Apple Pencil can be used on the inner display for handwriting, drawing and marking up documents.

USB-C iPhones can send video to an external display over a cable, either mirroring the screen or, in supporting apps, showing separate content.

The LiDAR scanner measures distance directly, which improves low light focus, Night mode portraits, and accessibility detection of people and doors.
