How the estimate works
The calculator assumes that twenty focused minutes a day produces roughly half a word per minute of improvement early on, slowing to under a fifth of a word per minute once you are past sixty WPM. Those figures come from the shape of a typical learning curve: early gains come from learning key positions, later gains come from shaving milliseconds off movements you already know.
Treat the result as a planning estimate, not a promise. Real progress depends on how familiar you already are with the keyboard, your starting accuracy, whether you practise consistently, and whether you practise the right things. Someone at 88% accuracy will often gain more from a month of accuracy work than from a month of speed drills, even though the speed number is the one being tracked.

| 35 WPM | 50 WPM | 6-10 weeks at 20 minutes a day |
| 50 WPM | 65 WPM | 3-5 months at 20 minutes a day |
| 65 WPM | 80 WPM | 6 months or more, with deliberate drills |
