Battery and charging
Fast charging
Most people call this getting to 50 percent quickly.
With a high enough power adapter, an iPhone can take a large share of its charge in the first half hour, then deliberately slows for the rest.

Charging speed has no setting. The Battery screen reports what happened.
What it does
Charging is fastest when the battery is nearly empty and tapers as it fills. A more powerful adapter only helps during that early phase, which is why the last 20 percent always feels slow.
There is no switch. The phone negotiates the rate with the charger.

Questions people actually ask
- Does fast charging damage the battery?
- The phone manages the rate and temperature itself, and slows down before either becomes a problem.
If it is not working
- A low power adapter from an older accessory will charge slowly no matter what the phone supports.
- A worn or non compliant cable is a common cause of slow charging.
- Heat reduces the rate, so charge with the case off if speed matters.
